PURPOSE:To prevent hardening of a weld zone and the generation of delayed cracking during use in the stage of root pass of dissimilar materials, i.e., carbon steel and 13-18% Cr steel, by using such a Cr stainless steel welding electrode of which the contents of C, Nb, Ti, etc. in deposited metal attain specific value. CONSTITUTION:In the stage of welding dissimilar steel materials, for example, general carbon steel contg. a low alloy and 13-18% Cr stainless steel, the Cr and Nb of the components in a welding electrode are decreased by the dilution with the base metal, by which the base metal are hardened. Delayed cracking by hydrogen is generated in the hardened part. Such a stainless steel coated arc welding electrode that the components of weld metal have the following compsn. is used in order to prevent such cracking: <=0.03% C, 0.9-1.2% Nb or Nb+Ti, 15-18% Cr, and further the weld metal contg. the other elements in the range specified by JIS Z 3221 D430 standard and the weld metal free from hardening by dilution are formed. |
