PURPOSE:To obtain the titled fibers having micropores and improved water absorption and hygroscopicity, by adding isophthalic acid containing an alkali metallic sulfonate, a specific phosphorus compound and a Ca compound to terephthalic acid, etc. and a glycol, polymerizing the resultant reaction mixture, spinning the resultant polymer, and eluting the fibers partially with an alkali. CONSTITUTION:In reacting a dicarboxylic acid consisting essentially of terephthalic acid with a glycol to synthesize a polyester, and preparing polyester fibers, (A) isophthalic acid containing 0.3-10mol%, based on the total acidic component, alkali metallic sulfonate or an ester-forming derivative, (B) 0.3- 3mol%, based on the total acidic component, phosphorus compound expressed by the formula (R<1> and R<2> are H or monofunctional organic group; X is H or monofunctional organic group or metal; m is 0 or 1) and (C) a calcium compound are without reaction added to a reaction mixture in any stage of synthesizing the polyester to give the number of equivalents of the metal in the components (B) and (C) of 2.0-3.2 times of the number of moles of the component (B) and complete the synthesis of the polyester. After the melt spinning of the polyester, the resultant fibers are treated with an alkali to elute >=2wt% fibers therefrom. |
