This concerns a hearing apparatus with an acoustic sensor 10, a microcomputer 12 for digital signal processing and an electro-acoustic converter 14 for acoustic reproduction, where there is at least one additional sensor 16, 18 for signals outside the acoustic audio range. These additional sensor signals are processed in accordance with a second program and are preferably supplied to the electro-acoustic converter 14 over an output on the microcomputer 12 as additional information. Thereby information such as signals from a traffic light transmitter, signals from a personal pager and response signals from a telephone, a door bell, etc., can be added to the normal hearing functions. In a suitable way using associated acoustic signal tracers the person with impaired hearing can distinguish between these additional functions. <IMAGE>
