Two liquids are fed to a metering device which includes a prim. fuel passage having a convergent length, a reduced section cylindrical length, and a divergent length. The sec. non-miscible liq. is drawn into the reduced section length in which the flow contraction of the prim. fuel is greatest. The mixt. from the metering device is delivered under pressure to an emulsifying device and then to the bulk-injection pump which injects the emulsified mixt. into the engine. The excess emulsion is recirculated downstream of the metering device to return to a recirculation pump prior to feeding to the metering device. Mixing and emulsifying the sec. non-miscible liq. with the prim. fuel in a predetermined ratio aids combustion of the prim. fuel. Method provides a very finely divided emulsion and a constant mixt. of the two liquids in in the required ratio independently of the fuel demand of the engine.
