PURPOSE:To enable the stable supply of a thin metallic sheet having a good shape in the stage of casting the belt-like thin sheet continuously by a monoroll system by providing a heat insulating refractory material in the end part of a water-cooled roll to prevent solidification of molten metal at the roll end. CONSTITUTION:A water-cooled roll 1 provided with a heat insulating refractory material 10 in the end part is disposed in a tundish 3, and molten metal 2 is charged into the tundish 3. The roll 1 is driven and a solidified shell 6 formed by contact with the surface of the roll 1 is pulled along the roll 1. The shell is rolled to a desired thickness by a screw down forming roll 7. The belt-like thin plate having a good surface characteristic is produced continuously and stably. |
