Ectoparasite infections are controlled in animals by attaching to the animal a device consisting of a polymer matrix with the pesticide amitraz (I) dispersed through it. Control of ticks on dogs, pigs, sheep, goats, and esp. cattle. The device may be attached to the neck, ear, leg or tail of the animal. The polymer matrix may be derived from homopolymers or copolymers of vinyl chloride, vinyl acetate, vinyl acetal, vinyl alcohol, vinylbenze,e divinylbenzene, vinylidene chloride, ethylene, propylene, butadiene, isoprene, or acrylic or methacrylic ester polymers or also polyurethanes, cellulosic plastics or synthetic or natural rubbers. |
