PURPOSE:To permit stable display all the time as well as obtain high-quality picture by using a display liquid consisting of a liquid medium containing a surface tension regulator and a colorant soluble or dispersible in the liquid medium and having a function to visualize pictures with vapor bubbles formed when heated. CONSTITUTION:A liquid medium to form vapor bubbles when heated, e.g., water, organic solvents of a boiling point of 130 deg.C or lower, etc. is used, and the liquid medium is mixed with additives, e.g., a surface tension regulator such as surfactant, etc., a viscosity regulator, etc., together with a well-known pigment or dye, e.g., direct dye, mordant dye, disperse dye, etc., in dissolving or dispersing manner to obtain a display liquid. Preferred mixing ratios of them in this case are 100pts.wt. liquid medium and 1-50pts.wt. the colorant and also they are so selected that the difference between the boiling point of the liquid medium containing the additive and the decomposing temperature of the colorant is 30 deg.C or higher. The display liquid is used as a thin liquid layer 2 between a radiation absorptive layer 1 and a transparent protective layer 3, and bubbles 4 are formed when heated to visualize pictures. |
