PURPOSE:To soften elongation of a core, by quad-placing and twisting a pair of optical fiber cores and a pair of elastic wire-shaped bodies whose mechanical strangth is weak, providing a holding layer on the outside circumference, and generating surplus length due to a fact that each core drops between each elastic wire-shaped body when adding tension. CONSTITUTION:An optical cable unit has such a structure that a pair of optical fiber cores 4 and a pair of elastic wire-shaped bodies 5 whose mechanical strength is weaker than that of these optical fiber cores 4 are diagonally placed so that those of the same kind are opposed to each other and are twisted to each other, and a holding layer 6 is provided on its outside circumference. On the outside circumference of an optical fiber 4A, covering 4C such as plastic covering of nylon, etc., fiber-reinforced plastic covering or metallic covering is provided through a buffer layer 4B. |
