PURPOSE:To enable the selection of adequate display modes with respect to a device for displaying the traveling loci of automobiles, etc., by changing over the mode which reads out and displays the information on maps, and calculates traveling loci so as to prevent the mark for the present position from deviating from roads and the mode which calculates the loci irrespectively of the roads. CONSTITUTION:The signal from a detector 1 for traveling distances which generates the signal of the frequencies proportional to traveling speeds and the signal from an azimuth detector 2 for measuring the advancing directions of a vehicle are processed in a control circuit 5. Here, data are read out from a map memory 3, and the map is displayed on a display 4. With the point assigned by a marker moving device 6 as a starting point, the present position or traveling loci are calculated. In this stage, the driver changes over the mode M which calculates the loci so as to prevent the present position from deviating from roads and the mode L which calculates the same irrespectively or roads by means of a switch 10 for instructing traveling modes. Then, the calculation and display mode suited for the places and forms for traveling is selected. |
