PURPOSE:To obtain a silver (II) oxide cell of which internal resistance is little increased during storage by plating with gold the surface of a positive electrode constituted of a three-layered structure of a silver (II) oxide layer, silver (I) oxide layer, and a silver layer. CONSTITUTION:260gr. of silver (II) oxide powder are press-molded to form a shaped body, which is immersed for 30min into the mixed liquid consisting of 30% aqueous solution of potassium hydroxide and ethyl alcohol in the volume ratio of 9:1, and the part in a thickness of 100mum from the surface is reduced to silver (I) oxide, which is immersed for 20min into the liquid containing hydrazine by 1% in ethyl alcohol, and the silver (I) oxide in the part in a thickness of about 50mum from the surface is reduced to silver, and thus a three-layered structure consisting of a silver (II) oxide layer 2, silver (I) oxide layer 3, and a silver layer 4. Said three-layered structure is immersed for 3hr at a temperature of 20 deg.C into an aqueous solution of 30% potassium hydroxide saturated with AuO(OH), and the silver layer is nonelectrolysis-plated with gold. The positive electrode 1 having the gold-plated layer 5 on the surface of the silver layer 4 described in the above is inserted into a positive-electrode can 6 into which a portion of electrolyte is poured into, and a separator 7 and an electrolyte absorbing body 8 are incorporated in succession onto said positive electrode 1, and thus a silver (II) oxide cell is manufactured. |
