Device for opening the mouth of an animal such as a horse, and retaining the mouth in the open position, two pivotal, interconnected yokes (1, 2) being applied to the head of the horse by means of strapping (4) in such a manner that the yokes (1, 2) extend from the one jaw joint around the nose of the animal to the second jaw joint; and the yokes (1, 2) each being provided with a bit plate (8, 11) for the front teeth of the horse, means (15, 16, 23, 24) being disposed between the yokes (1, 2) for opening thereof, while the maxillary front teeth rest on the one bit plate (8) and the mandible front teeth on the other bit plate (11). |
