PURPOSE:To enable an engine to be stopped or started as desired by the driver, by providing a vehicle speed detecting means, a neutral gear position detecting means, a fuel cutoff controlling circuit and an engine-restarting circuit. CONSTITUTION:A controller 20 outputs a signal for stopping or restarting the engine. A fuel cutoff valve 21 is closed when a vehicle speed signal 1 and a neutral gear position signal 2 are turned ON. Namely, the engine is not stopped before the vehicle is fully stopped. When restarting the vehicle after stopping the engine, the gear position is shifted to turn OFF the neutral gear position signal 2, thereby opening the fuel cutoff valve 21, and a starter 22 is simultaneously driven. Accordingly, the engine can be prevented from being stopped when running at a very low speed, and can be restarted by shifting the gear position. |
