PURPOSE:To obtain an ignition coil which is superior in vibration proof and insulation property by forming the primary coil with the main primary coil and auxiliary primary coil and by eliminating external resistor through short-circuit of the auxiliary primary coil at the time of starting the engine. CONSTITUTION:A coil cap 2 is provided with a linear primary coil 6 by providing the flanges 2c-2e to the upper and lower parts of circumference and the interim part of the cylindrical foot part 2a, and simultaneously the primary coil 6 is so configurated that it can be separated into the main primary coil 6a and the auxiliary primary coil 6b where half parts of all number of turns are mutually wound reversely. In addition, the primary terminals provided at the upper side of the coil cap 2 are also provided with the battery terminal 8a in addition to the conventional plus and minus terminals 8b and 8c (+, -) in order to short-circuit the auxilary primary coil 6b at the time of starting the internal combustion engine. Thereby, the same effect can also be obtained as that obtained conventionally by short-circuitting an external resistor. Accordingly, a heavy current flows into the coil (main primary coil 6a) at the time of starting the the engine and high performance can be obtained without absorption of energy. |
