PURPOSE:To detect automatically and surely a leakage of gas eliminating the need of many hands for monitoring the gas leakage, by laying a rail on a deck or support provided on surrounding of a furnace body and equipping an automatic traveling car provided with a gas detector on the rail. CONSTITUTION:Automatic traveling cars 5a-5c are made travel along each rail 4a-4c and each car is stopped at preliminarily appointed several places surrounding a furnace body 1 and then, the concentration of surrounding gaseous CO is measured. In case the gaseous CO concentration exceeds a set point, an alarm is given directly or at a central measuring instrument room and if occasion demands, leaking places of the gaseous CO and the concentration and other necessary items are displayed on a display device or recorded on a recorder. On this occasion, the leakage condition of the gaseous CO of several steps range (e.g. 2a-2d) of cooling boxes 2a-2n is monitored by one gas detector by expanding or contracting suitably supporting bodies 6a-6c. |
