PURPOSE:To transfer files having various organizations between computers constituting a network, by transferring detailed characteristic information of a transmission file and required information concerning a receiving file from the transmission side before file transfer. CONSTITUTION:When a file transfer controlling mechanism 3 of a computer 1 is requested to transfer a file 5 to a file 6 in a computer 2, a transmission management table 10 including characteristic information concerning the transmission file and the receiving file is transmitted to a reception side 8 by a transmission preparation processing 9 of a transmission side 7 before actual transmission and reception processings of data. The table 10 includes a file name, a file organizing method, a space quantity, a block size, a record format, etc. as transmission characteristic information and includes a file name, a file organizing method, etc. as reception file information. When receiving the table 10, the reception side 8 performs a reception preparation processing 11 and responds to the transmission side if tranfer is possible. Then, a file transmission processing 12 is performed in the transmission side 7, and the reception side 8 receives the file and performs a file reception processing 13. |
