摘要 PURPOSE:To obtain a highly reliable cell having long service life, by forming layers impregnated with suspension liquid of inorganic compound employing thermosetting resin as binder on both faces at the end of an electrode then impregnating electrolyte while surrounding the end of the electrode with high molecular sheet. CONSTITUTION:Suspension liquid 10 of inorganic compound employing thermosetting resin as binder having the viscosity regulated to be impregnated by approximately 2/5 of the thickness of electrodes is impregnated from one of the upper and lower faces of the ends of ribbed electrodes 1, 2 to form an impregnated layer. Then the electrodes 1, 2 are inverted and the suspension liquid 10 is impregnated similarly from the other of said faces to form another impregnated layer. Thereafter it is thermally hardened and electrolyte heated around 130 deg.C or phosphoric acid 11 is impregnated at the portion not yet impregnated. Then the ends of the electrodes, 1, 2 are surrounded by heat-resistant and phosphoric acid-resistant high molecular sheet 12 to prevent the gas leak while to reserve the electrolyte or phosphoric acid. The end structur constructed in such a manner has high gas seal performance where phosphoric acid can be supplied from the interior of the electrode to the reaction face, resulting in the improvement of reliability as well as service life.
