PURPOSE:To balance external pressure to the internal pressure of low-temperature liquid, by winding a band plate around a side plate so that the band plate may be in contact with the side plate and a bottom plate which are smaller in the coefficient of linear expansion than the band plate and that the band plate must not be coupled to the side plate and the bottom plate and that the band plate exerts the external pressure on the side plate due to the difference in the coefficient of linear expansion when the low-temperature liquid is fulled in a storage tank. CONSTITUTION:A low-temperature storage tank 1 comprises a side plate 2 and a bottom plate 3. A band plate 4 is wound on the lowest part of the side plate 2 so that the band plate may be in contact with the side plate and the bottom plate 3 but must not be coupled to them by welding or the like. When the content of the tank 1 is liquefied natural gas, steel containing about 9% of nickel is appropriate as the material of the side plate 2 and the bottom plate 3 and austenitic stainless steel such as the SUS304 (JIS) which is larger in the coefficient of linear expansion than said material and does not become brittle at low temperature may be used for the band plate 4. |
