PURPOSE:To enhance dispersibility and surface smoothness, by incorporating an acrylate type high molecular surfactant into a magnetic layer. CONSTITUTION:An acrylate polymer with 1,000-100,000mol.wt. represented by formulaI(where R1 is a hydrocarbon group, R2 is Na or K, and n is an integer or 5-1,000) or an acrylate-maleate copolymer with 1,000-100,000mol.wt. represented by formula II (where R3 is a hydrocarbon group, R4 is Na or K, and n is an integer of 2-500) is incorporated into a magnetic layer consisting essentially of magnetic powder and a binder such as resin. The surfactant is incorporated into the magnetic layer by dissolving the surfactant in water, adding the magnetic powder to the soln., and carrying out surface treatment. |
