PURPOSE:To apply a DC voltage to plural self-recovery type capacitors simultaneously, by connecting >=2 series circuits of self-recovery type capacitors and diodes in parallel, and applying the DC voltage higher than a rated voltage to the parallel circuit. CONSTITUTION:Diodes D1-D3 are connected in series to the self-recovery type capacitors C1-C3 made of metallized paper of metallized film and the obtained series circuits are connected in parallel. In this state, the DC voltage higher than the rated voltage is applied to the capacitors C1-C3 and switches connected to the capacitors C1-C3 are closed a specified time later to discharge the capacitors through discharging resistances 10. Consequently, if, for example, the capacitor C1 has an electrically weak point and its self-recovering operation is to start, a temporary short circuit is caused, but charges from the capacitors C2 and C3 never flow into the capacitor C1 because the diodes D2 and D3 are connected in the opposite directions, so that insulation destruction is prevented. |
