PURPOSE:To make a user listen accurately to a sentence with Kana (Japanese syllabary) and Kanji (Chinese character) mixed, by setting a proper holding time for switching of different kinds of character string but not providing the holding time for continuity of the same kind of character in a text editing device using voice. CONSTITUTION:A microcomputer MPU1 stores a program group, which is supplied from an external magnetic memory 7, in an internal memory 6 and controls the input and the output of a keyboard 2, a CRT display 4, and a printer 8 in accordance with these programs to perform editing and correcting work. When an optional address is designated to a voice synthesizing circuit 12, the parallel code of the voice of the memory 6 is received by the circuit 12 and is converted to a series voice current, and a pertinent character is outputted as voice from a speaker 14. In this case, when a sentence with Kana and Kanji mixed is read, the reading operation is held for a certain time in the position of switching between a Kana string and a Kanji string, and thus, the user can listen to the Kana string and the Kanji string distinctively from each other. |
