The head consists of a stack of at least two elementary heads, each of which comprises a magnetic circuit formed by a ring zone contg. an air gap; and the ring has a U-shaped side zone. In the stack, the side zones are displaced w.r.t. each other along the arc of a circle, and pref. in the plane of the heads. The heads are pref. located on a mandrel, which can be removed after assembling the heads as a stack. In the stack, the heads are pref. sepd. from each other by ring spacers made of a nonmagnetic ceramic material. The heads are pref. stamped from a ferrite, and are then baked, esp. an Fe-Ni-Zn ferrite or an Fe-Mn Zn ferrite; whereas the ceramic spacers are pref. based on zinc. The tracks can be located closer together, i.e. with a smaller pitch, than in conventional multitrack heads.
|
