Flameproof polyamide moulding compsn. contains (A) thermoplastic polyamide (mixt.) and/or a mixt. of a polyamide and another thermoplastics and (B) the reaction prod. of 1 mole cyanuric acid and 2 mole basic N-heterocycle. The compsn. contains 97-70 (wt.) pts. (A) and 3-30 pts. (B). (B) is derived from a mono-or poly-nuclear cpd. of formula (I) (in which R is -NH-R1 and R and R1 are organic gps. and R1 can also be H), esp. melamine. (B) is in as finely-divided form as possible. (A) has a processing temp. above 270 deg.C and is polyamide 66 or an amorphous polyamide of isophthalic acid and diaminohexane. The compsn. is produced by incorporating 3-30 pts. intimate mixt. of melamine cyanurate 1:1 with min. 1 mole melamine directly into 97-70 pts. (A) melt. (B) has little intrinsic colour, so that compsns. of many colours can be prepd. (B) has little effect on the mechanical and electrical properties of the compsn. and the processability is excellent.
