<p>The support is used to locate and clamp heavy workpieces (4) at a machining centre, being designed for speed and ease of operation, and using centring tools (14) entering a guide barrel (42) in a guide block (28) mounted on a machine-tool table (30). The guide block may comprise a compound slide (32,36) and the tool may be fixed to the work by a bolt (8). Each tool has a truncated conical body (17) and a domed head (18), the first part using the cone to achieve preliminary centring whilst the second uses a ball-joint to bring about final centring.</p> |
