[Classes 75 (ii) and 75 (iv)] In a motor vehicle or other light projector with a main reflector 3, two small auxiliary reflectors 1, 2 are placed in front of the electric lamp bulb 4, the surfaces of the reflectors 1, 2 being such that direct rays reflected by the first reflector 1 on to the second reflector 2 are reflected by the latter forwardly substantially horizontally. As shown, the reflector 1 is ellipsoidal with one focus f at the light source and the other focus f coincident with that of the reflector 2, which is parabolic. Alternatively, the first reflector may be formed by the rotation of a circular arc about an axis not passing through the centre of the circle, or by the rotation of part of a parabola about a line perpendicular to its principal axis. In the last case, the second reflector is formed as a cone with an apex of 90‹. The greatest diameter of the reflectors 1, 2 is less than that of the bulb 4. The filament of the bulb is a horizontal, transverse helix. |
