PURPOSE:To retain desulfurization capacity of activated carbon for a long time in removing SOX in a flue gas with the activated carbon, by repeating adsorption of SOX with the activated carbon and regeneration of the carbon inactivated by adsorption of SOX, and then executing said process by addition of NH3. CONSTITUTION:A flue gas contg. SOX exhausted from a factory is fed to a cross-current moving-bed desulfurization reactor 2 using activated carbon as a desulfurizing agent to allow the carbon to adsorb SOX, together with O2 and H2O contained in the gas as sulfuric acid. Said agent inactivated by adsorption of SOX is fed to a sulfuric acid regenerator 4 to heat it to 300-600 deg.C to remove said acid adsorbed, and at the same time, a part of the carbon is gassified to grow the pores of the carbon and enlarge the surface area, so reactivate it. After repetition of these processes in several times, gaseous ammonia 1 is introduced into the flue gas, and SOX is adsorbed to the carbon in the reactor 2 and the carbon is regenerated. As a result, regeneration of the agent is carried out and high activity is retained for a long time.
|
