PURPOSE:To sufficiently apply the titled device to the expansion of a liquid crystal display panel and to sharply reduce power consumption by providing the device with a sequential lighting control part for supplying preheat current to respective resistor lamps at the start of plural fluorescent lamps to preheat the lamps and sequentially turning on and off respective lamps under the interrupted state of the preheat current. CONSTITUTION:When an oscillation transformer T' is oscillated by impressing the DC voltage of a battery 10 to a lighting circuit 16, the sequential lighting control part 17 is driven, preheat switches S0-S3 are held at closed states only for a fixed time t1 and the preheat current is supplied to the electrodes of the 1st-3rd fluorescent lamps L1-L3, so that respective electrodes are preheated up to a temperature necessary for the lighting of the lamps. After the passage of the fixed time t1, respective preheat switches are opened, preheat current to be supplied to the 1st-3rd fluorescent lamps is interrupted, and simultaneously the changeover switches SW are sequentially turned on to turn on the 1st-3rd fluorescent lamps sequentially every fixed period t2. |
