A covering cap, formed from two essentially box-shaped half shells, for plug connectors, especially rectangular plug connectors having sub-miniature pin patterns conforming to the military standardised contact arrangement, having two cable outlet openings which are arranged in the side surfaces of the half shells which contain the separating edges, are plane-parallel with respect to one another and are arranged at an angle with respect to one another, and half-shell connecting-locking means constructed on the side surfaces are created, the connecting means being constructed as small locking plates which can be inserted into the cable outlet openings provided for outgoing cables, and/or are constructed as terminal springs which can be inserted and latched into the plane-parallel side surfaces of the half shells. The small locking plates may alternatively be constructed as small cable bushing plates or as small closure plates, the small cable bushing plate having a through-opening which is matched precisely to the cable external diameter of the cable supplied to it, and the small closure plate being constructed as a small plate which completely closes the cable outlet opening. The small locking plates are essentially of rectangular construction and are connected with their side edges that are at right angles to the separating edges of the half shells to the corresponding edges of the cable outlet openings of the half shells, in the manner of a tongue and groove, or can be inserted therein. Furthermore, on their side edges which are parallel to the separating edges of the half shells, the small locking plates have latching strips pointing towards the side surfaces of the half shells, which latching strips can be latched into notches which are constructed in a corresponding manner in the side surfaces of the half shells.
