Coal ploughs guided on the conveyor on the coal-face side are controlled by means of supporting devices, for example hydraulic cylinders, linked on the goaf side to the spill plates of the conveyor. To avoid wear and to avoid an open bottom strand, the control device provides for the supporting element (2) to be designed as a spring-steel plate bent at right angles, the angled flange (19) of which is fastened between conveyor (1) and plough guide (8), and for a sealing plate (17) sliding on the spring-steel plate to be provided on the goaf side below the spill plates (3) and in such a way as to be pivotable relative to the latter in the longitudinal direction of the conveyor. <IMAGE>
