In the case of an information sign, in particular for information in the open, for example road signs having a retroreflecting information-bearing surface, obscuring by a covering of dew or frost is prevented or at least largely reduced by backing the actual information carrier, in the form of a layer, with an essentially insulating layer. Plastic layers are particularly suitable as insulating layers. If the material of the insulating layer is sensitive to light, in particular UV radiation, the insulating layer can be covered on the front and rear side with a layer which is impermeable to UV radiation, for example a correspondingly coloured or pigmented plastic layer. If the information-bearing layer contains a metal foil, merely covering the rear side of the insulating layer with a layer which is impermeable to UV radiation suffices. For extreme conditions (for example areas susceptible to snow), the insulating layer can be additionally equipped with a heating device.
