PURPOSE:To automatically compensate the wear of the tool at all times by a method wherein the distance between the machined surface of a work and a sensor is measured by said non-contact distance sensor. CONSTITUTION:During the machining of the work 2 by a numerically controlled machine tool, the precisely positioned non-contact distance sensor measures its distance to the machined surface of the work 2. The machining tool 3 is position-controlled by a numerical control. However the positional error of the point of the tool is caused due to its wear. The error is measured by the non- contact distance sensor 1 in the form of the error of its distance to the machined surface and a compensating signal processed by a compensating circuit based upon said measured error is given to the numerical control. |
