The load carrier (2) of the balance is connected to the bracket (1) by means of a parallel linkage formed by elastic guide bars (3,4) arranged one above the other in two planes. A measuring spring (6) precedes the short-path measuring system, which is, e.g., in the form of a vibrating string (5). To compensate for the creep effect on the measuring system, the guide bars and the measuring spring are flat, stiff elements made of the same material and with locally concentrated bending points (31,32,41,42,61) which are dimensioned such that the average change of bending stress caused by a change in load is equal at all the bending points. <IMAGE>
