PURPOSE:To obtain an entitled photoreceptor having high sensitivity and high durability, by providing a photosensitive layer contg. some of 1-pyrenecarbaldehyde hydrazones. CONSTITUTION:1-Pyrenecarbaldehyde is reacted in an inactive solvent with some of hydrazines having formulaI(R<1> is alkyl, aryl, phenyl, or aralkyl, and R<2> is phenyl optionally substd.), or its chloride or sulfate to give 1-pyrenecarbaldehyde hydrazone (A) having formula II. The component (A) and a binder (B), such as styrene, are dissolved in a solvent, such as tetrahydrofuran, and photoconductive particles capable of generating charge carriers with high efficiency upon light absorption, a sensitizing dye, an electron acceptor, etc. are added to said soln., when needed, to obtain a coating liquid. A conductive substrate is coated with this liquid and dried to form a photosensitive layer having several or several tens mum thickness. A photoreceptor small in accumulation of residual potential and fluctuation of surface potential and sensitivity due to repeated uses can be obtained by this method. |
