PURPOSE:To increase the field of application for input function of character data, by securing an input of English words in a type document by means of an optical reading pen. CONSTITUTION:A typewritten word pattern is scanned and detected as optical signals. These optical signals are delivered as vertical and horizontal electric signals by a photoelectric input circuit 10. The word pattern data given from the circuit 10 is stored 20. At the same time, the word pattern data given from the circuit 10 is processed to obtain the character number data, character width data and character center data. These data are stored 30. Then the character height data of the word pattern is obtained and stored 40 after processing the word pattern data given from the circuit 10. While a timing control circuit 50 controls the operations of the input circuit 10 and storage circuits 20, 30 and 40 respectively with a prescribed timing signal. |
