<p>Avermectin compounds in which the 13-[4 min -( alpha -1-4 sec -hydroxy-oleandrosyl)- alpha -1-oleandrosyl] residue is replaced by a 13-[4 min -R1- alpha -1-oleandrosyl] residue, where R1 is oxo, -NR5R6 or 4 sec -R min 1- alpha -1-oleandrosyl, where R min 1 is oxo or -NR5R6 and each of R5 and R6 is hydrogen, C1-5alkyl, C1-5 alkanoyl, halogenated benzenesulfonyl or C1-5 alkylsulfonyl, are novel antibacterial and antiparasitic, especially anthelmintic, agents. They are made into pharmaceutical and veterinary compositions for this purpose.
<??>The compounds are made by oxidizing the corresponding 4 sec -hydroxy avermectin compounds or 13-[4 min -hydroxy- alpha -oleandrosyl]-13-noravermectin compounds, followed if desired by aminating and optionally alkylating and/or acylating the resulting oxo compound. </p> |
