MANUFACTURE OF MAGNETIC RECORDING MEDIUM

摘要

PURPOSE:To obtain a magnetic recording medium excellent in recording and reproducing characteristics, by forming a Ti film on a moving substrate while controlling an incident angle of evaporated atoms at a specific value or below by a vacuum deposition method and forming a vertical magnetization film on the Ti film. CONSTITUTION:The substrate 1 made of polyimide or the like is run in the arrow A along the circumference of a cylindrical can 2. The Ti stared in an evaporation source 6 is vapor-deposited on the substrate 1 through a slit S of a mask 5 by the vacuum deposition method and the Ti film is formed by controlling the incident angle phi1 of the evaporated atoms at the beginning of the Ti film formation to be <=60 deg.. A magnetic layer having an axis of easy magnetization orthogonal to the film surface and consisting essentially of Co and Cr is formed on the Ti film, allowing to obtain the objective magnetic recording medium.
