PURPOSE:To suck electrolyte by capillarity and uniformalize the concentration of the electrolyte by making the density at the upper part of the assembled element of a separator higher than that at the lower part of it. CONSTITUTION:Positive and negative electrode plates 1 and 2 are 60mm. high or more. Besides, a sheet-shaped separator 3 mainly made of glass fiber with its diameter of less than 1mu and with predetermined uniform density and thickness is bent in zigzag and is inserted between the positive and negative electrode plates 1 and 2. Such formed assembled element is inserted from downward in a container 4 that is formed narrower upward. As a result, the separator 3 permits the density at the upper part of the assembled element to become higher than that at the lower part of it. Then, a lead acid battery is completed by making the container bottom 5 and the container cover 6 adhere to the container 4. As a result of the structure, since the suction force is increased by capillarity and the electrolyte at the lower part of the assembled element can be sucked up, the unevenness of electrolytic concentration can be prevented and thus a long-life lead acid battery can be obtained. |
