The flat heater is for a vehicle seat, and comprises a zig-zag formation heating wire (4) fitted in the sitting (2a) and back rest (2b) sections. Between the seat sections is a space with low surface seal for the wound wire, and containing a crossways slot (19). Through this slot extends a connecting strap sewn firmly to the top cover of the seat by means of a seam. The strap extends downwards into a track in the stuffing material beneath, and around an upper bar. This upper bar is drawn downwards towards a lower bar, both being secured by rings. This ensures a stable fixture of the heater under the seat surface and at the same time prevents undesired wire-to-wire contact in the connecting area (2c) between the sitting and back rest sections.
