PURPOSE:To obtain a ribbon feeder for printer, having a selection mechanism by which desired deceleration ratios can be simply attained by exchanging one gear without the need for additional gears even when the distance between the motor shaft and the ribbon feed gear shaft becomes longer. CONSTITUTION:A ribbon feeder for printer consists of a motor for moving a carriage 1, the first and second gear rows 7, 8, and 9 in which difference in gear number is in the relation of odd number, a gear 10 for driving a ribbon, and a selection mechanism by which to select the first gear row or the second gear row according to the rotational direction of the motor. The selection mechanism consists also of a solar pulley 11 fixed to the motor shaft 3, a planetary pulley 13 rocking around the solar pulley 11 as the center, a supporting plate 16 to determine the distance between the epicyclic pulley 13 shaft and the motor shaft 3, an epicyclic gear 14 fixed coaxially to the planetary pulley 13 and engaged with the first or second gear row, and a belt 15 laid on the solar pulley 11 and the planetary pulley 13. |
