PURPOSE:To provide a polyamide-imide composed of an amideimide unit and an amide unit each having respective specific structure, as recurring units, usable stably as a metallic ion adsorbent even at a high temperature, having excellent heat resistance, and having chelate-forming capability. CONSTITUTION:The objective polymer has an intrinsic viscosity of 0.4-1.5 (in N-methyl-2-pyrrolidone at 30 deg.C) and contains the amideimide unit of formulaI (A<1> is trivalent aromatic group; A<2> is bivalent organic group selected from the groups of formulas II-VI; R<1> is bivalent organic group) and the amide group of formula VII as recurring units wherein the amount of the unit of formula VII is >=5mol% of the whole units. The polymer can be prepared by reacting e.g. an aromatic acid anhydride such as trimellitic anhydride, a heteroaromatic dicarboxylic acid such as dipicolic acid, and a diisocyanate such as p-phenylene diisocyanate, etc. in a solvent such as N-methyl-2-pyrrolidone. EFFECT:The treating time for the adsorption of metallic ions can be shortened. |
