PURPOSE:To enable to protect the titled power plant against damages due to water pressure, by making the plant float on the water, for instance, at the time of a flood by discharging water in balast tanks formed in the plant. CONSTITUTION:A water current utilizing power plant of this invention is designed such that a required buoyancy can be imparted to the main body B' of the plant by charging or discharging water to and from balast tanks 15. Normally, water is charged into the balast tanks 15 to such an extent that the main body B' floats in water. On the other hand, in case that the flow rate of water is increased extraordinarily due to a flood or the like, the main body B' is made to float on water by discharging water from the balast tanks 15, thus protecting the plant against damages. Further, the plant can be towed with ease by pulling out a spud 20 from the bottom of the water, disengaging a mooring rope 19 and discharging water from the balast tanks 15. |
