PURPOSE:To supply heated ingots continuously to rolling installations by providing a storage hearth in the preheating zone of a heating furnace, providing a lifter and a transfer hearth which can feed the ingots quickly in a heating zone and a discharge hearth in a soaking zone, and driving the respective hearths independently. CONSTITUTION:When heated ingots from continuous casting installations are supplied through the intermediate insertion port 4 of a heating furnace 20, the ingots are placed on a lifter 25 and are moved upward so as to be delivered onto a transfer hearth 23. As the hearth 23 operates, the ingots are conveyed in the direction of a discharge hearth 24 on a stationary hearth 21, and during this time, the ingots are heated and soaked by the burners 27 in a heating zone 10 and the burners 28 in a soaking zone 11. When the transer hearth are fully loaded, the ingots are delivered from the lifter 25 to the storage hearth 22 in a preheating zone 13, where the waste combustion gases from the burners 27, 28 are circulated to avert the temp. drop of the ingots. From said storage hearth, the ingots are delivered to the hearth 23. The ingots are temporarily stored or fed quickly on the hearth 23 according to the supplying condition of the ingots. The hot ingots are supplied steadily to rolling installations by the independent driving of the hearths 22, 23, 24. |
