<p>PURPOSE:The titled ink medium, prepared by supporting a hot-melt ink layer with an ink supporting layer containing a powder having a negative temperature coefficient in openings divided into minute cells with insulating thin walls, and capable of giving printed letters with a slight spread of dots and improved energy efficiency. CONSTITUTION:An ink medium obtained by embedding a powder 6 having a negative temperature coefficient, e.g., prepared by mixing VO2 with an oxide of B, Si, P or Mg, etc., having crystals of almost spinel structure and exhibiting the electric conductivity with increasing temperature, in openings 5 divided by insulating meshes 4 as insulating thin walls, and applying an ink having 15mum thickness and 90 deg.C melting point to one side of the resultant ink supporting layer 3 having minute cells 7. The horizontal electric conductive path in the ink supporting layer 3 is cut off by the insulating meshes 4, and the interiors of the minute cells 7 in contact with a needle electrode 10 are heated by the electric conduction to concentrate the electric current with the powder 6 having the negative temperature coefficient. Thus, the ink layer 2 is molten under heating and transferred to a transfer sheet 8.</p> |
