PURPOSE:To prevent any generation of irregular creases during rolling work by covering the inner and the outer circumference surfaces of a long electrode plate with separators, and joining the outer separator to the inner separator after providing the outer separator with slacks, and being followed by performing the rolling work. CONSTITUTION:A battery is constituted by rolling into spiral form a long negative plate 1, which consists of a lithium plate 2 and a current-collecting body 3, and a long positive plate 5, which is formed by making a positive mixture 6 to be held on a current-collecting body 7, with separators 8 provided on the surfaces of the positive plate 5. Here, after an inner and an outer separator 8a and 8b are provided over the entire surface of the positive plate 5, the outer separator 8b is provided with slacks 15 at given intervals, the ends of the separators 8a and 8b are fused together, and thus obtained unified body is subjected to rolling work. As a result, since stresses developed in the separators 8a and 8b during the rolling work can be absorbed by the stretches of the slacks 15, the rolling work can be performed while highly maintaining the close contact between the members, without causing any irregular creases. |
