PURPOSE:To detect the defective setting of a movable member in a sheet passage surely by disposing a part of a sheet detecting mechanism to the movable member in the open part of the sheet passage and outputting an abnormality detection signal from said mechanism when the movable member is not set in a prescribed position. CONSTITUTION:A light emitting element LED and a photodetector PC are provided with a belt 29a therebetween to form a sensor PS for a copying paper detecting mechanism. A light passing part is provided to the belt 29a so that, when copying paper P is conveyed on the belt 29a, light is shielded and the passage of said paper can be detected. On the other hand, a conveyor 29 is constituted so as to oscillate around a shaft 29b to make the passage for copying paper openable. The LED is fixed to the conveyor 29, and the projection of light therefrom to the the PC is infeasible during descending of the conveyor 29. When an electric power source is turned on, the state of the PS is decided to decide whether the PC receives the light of the LED correctly or not, and when the PC fails to receive said light, a display part 40 is lighted, thereby detecting the defective setting. |
