PURPOSE:To obtain a constant polarization type transmission line holding the polarization surface in a wide band by providing a constant polarization type single-mode optical fiber with a part where the difference in the propagation constant is reversed. CONSTITUTION:The energy of a constant polarization type optical fiber 3 in 2 axes can be exchanged by passing the fiber 3 through a part 4 where the combination of a female die with a male die applies bending force. The energy can be also exchanged by passing the fiber 3 through a part 5 for applying periodical lateral pressure. Thus, by increasing the difference in the propagation constant of the single-mode optical fiber in 2 axes, a produced narrow band property is eliminated, and a constant polarization type transmission path holding the polarization surface in a wide band can be obtd. |
