PURPOSE:To obtain rapidly and surely locking state by a structure wherein a damper ring rotating integrally with a ball screw part is jointed through rolling elements to an inertia body and the damper ring and the inertia body are separated from each other by utilizing the inertia of the inertia body in case that the load is applied abruptly. CONSTITUTION:When an inner tube 3 sluggishly displaces with respect to an outer tube 1, a rotating rod 9 equipped with the ball screw part 11 threadingly fitted to a ball nut 4 is slowly rotated and the damper ring 12 and the inertia body 15 are also rotated together with the rotating rod 9. When the inner tube 3 abruptly displaces with respect to the outer tube 1, the rotating rod 9 is rapidly rotated, while the damper ring 12 rotating integrally with the rotating rod 9 causes steel balls 24 to roll within recesses 22 and 23, because the inertia body 15 tends to keep its stationary state due to its inertia, resulting in shifting the damper ring 12 leftward and consequently bringing the flange 12b of a damper ring 12 into contact with a damper ring receiver 25 by compressing a coiled spring 20 and finally in checking the rotation of the damper ring 12 in order to realize the locking state. |
