PURPOSE:To recover stably a halogenated hydrocarbon of high quality, by using a fibrous activated carbon having a specified specific surface area, adsorption rate constant and pH. CONSTITUTION:A fibrous activated carbon having >=500m<2>/g specific surface area, >=0.1min<-1> adsorption rate constant for benzene and <=5pH is used. In this case, the fibrous activated carbon is treated with a dilute solution of sulfuric acid, hydrochloric acid, or phosphoric acid, etc. to adjust the pH thereof. The use of the activated carbon for recovering an easily decomposable halogenated hydrocarbon suppresses the decomposition of the halogenated hydrocarbon in the adsorbing and desorbing operations in the adsorptive recovery and provides a recovered solution of high quality with a high efficiency. |
