PURPOSE:To obtain an extremely inexpensive detector for the damage position of a coaxial cable by using an adapter consisting of a Gunn oscillator, amplifier, and directional coupler, and an oscilloscope. CONSTITUTION:The oscillation frequency of the Gunn oscillator 4 is very high, so while it oscillates at, for example, 1GHz, 2,000 cycles are in a 2mum pulse width. The amplifier 6 is constituted easily by using a GaAsFET at present. The directional coupler 7 has such simple structure that a pickup loop incorporating a microwave diode is added to a coaxil cable 1. The adapter constituted by using above-mentioned elements is small sized, i.e. as large as, for example, two paperbooks and its price is very low. The oscilloscope 3 whose upper frequency limit is about 15MHz is used very widely, so its price is also very low. This device consisting of them is therefore priced very low. |
