<p>Plastic ligating clamps of absorbable or nonabsorbable materials are formed by two legs 11, 12 joined with a resilient hinge 13. One leg terminates in a hook member 14 which secures the other leg when the clamp is closed. Each leg of the clamp is provided with a raised cylindrical boss 21, 22 extending across its width near the distal end. The clamp applier is a forceps-type instrument having jaws 34, 35 especially adapted by channels 38, 39 to accept the bosses 21, 22 thus holding the clamp in the jaws whilst permitting the necessary rotary motion during closing of the clamp. <IMAGE></p> |
