PURPOSE:To easily further high accurately perform positioning, by holding a side member constituting a car body under a floating condition with a holding jig and positioning this side member to a fixed position of assembly for an under body with a positioning member. CONSTITUTION:At assembly work of a car body, firstly an under body B is positioned to a prescribed position by a positioning jig 3 arranged on a base 1 and held. While a holding jig device 5 movable along a rail 4 extended in the direction at a right angle with the body B is placed in a receiving position as shown by a chain line in the drawing, and a rotary unit 9 is rotated to place a holding jig 13 floatably supported by springs 16-18 in a condition faced upward. Under this condition, a side member M is charged and held to the jig 13. Then the unit 9 is rotated 90 deg. to face the member M toward a side of the body B, and then the device 5 is slided to an assembly position, after positioning in the direction X-Z, the both body B and member M are integrally formed by spot welding. |
